It will be washed (without detergent) and dried once to start the ragging process. It will fluff up even more with time.
I always use minky on the back of my quilts because I know how much babies love it. My 2-year-old still carries around his favorite "soft blankie".

Couldn’t recommend a better quilt. I bought many of our nursery items from pottery barn baby. We have a moon and star theme. The Nursery baby quilt that came with the bedding set did not look soft or fun/unique for the steep price. I’m so glad I opted out of getting the quilt through Pottery Barn and got from here. So soft!!!
